What is Affiliate Marketing and why is it Highly Suitable For You?

It's possible you're reading this post because you're not quite sure what affiliate marketing is and how it works, or you've probably never even heard if it before.

Affiliate marketing is an arrangement between two or more people, whereby the owner of a product rewards anyone (an affiliate) who make a sale for that product. Or simply put, Affiliate marketing a type of performance based marketing, whereby a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate's own marketing efforts.

As you can see above, one of my affiliate accounts was credited $65 for a referral that I made. Now get this right, I was not paid because I made the referral, I was paid $65 for that referral because the person I referred made a purchase.

This marketing effort can be done through email marketing, Payper Click Advertising, Organic search engine optimisation, content marketing and sometimes display advertising. The revenue would be shared between the merchant and the affiliate. The affiliate is the person that agrees to promote the product in one way or the other. Affiliate marketing industry bring together four core players: the merchant (also known as 'retailer' or 'brand'), the network (that contains offers for the affiliate to choose from and also takes care of the payments), the publisher (also known as 'the affiliate'), and the customer(the one that purchases the product).

Affiliate marketing is commonly confused with referral marketing, as both forms of marketing use third parties to drive sales to the retailer. However, both are distinct forms of marketing and the main difference between them is that affiliate marketing relies purely on financial motivations to drive sales while referral marketing relies on trust and personal relationships to drive sales.

So why is affiliate marketing highly suitable for you and why should you start right away?

The reasons are obvious,
You don't have to invest the time and effort to create the product and the market to sell
You can start selling something as soon as you have the platform to sell it on, meaning you can even start affiliate marketing right away so long you have a marketing strategy already.
You don't need to have a website to do so
Signing up for a product is as simple and easy as signing up for an email account
Anybody can take part, you don't have to be a degree owner or academically there to take part.
No direct selling is involved
You find a product you like, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make.

You’re happy because you earned a commission…
The company is happy because they have a new sale from a customer that they might not have normally been able to reach…
And the customer is happy because they learned about a product from you that will hopefully fulfill a need or desire.
